An attempt to encompass all three of the main sites at Ballymeanoch
- a henge (directly in front, the lighter grass), multiple standing
stones, and a small cairn. All were built from 6000 to 3500 BC.
The standing stones and henge were first, then around 4,000 years
ago two graves were placed in the henge, at approximately the same
time the cairn was built. Two of the standing stones contain cup-and-ring
marks. At one time the large stones marked a processional avenue. |

Dunadd fort, in use during the 6th-9th centuries. No trace remains
of the wooden ramparts of this dark age fort. This foot-shaped
