A Kea, New Zealand's mountain parrot. Fun to watch, but apparently very
destructive. He's not threatening me, but playing with another parrot
out of the picture. |

Another Kea. This one is eyeing my shoelaces, or perhaps my shoes themselves... |

Mount Cook the next morning. Quite a different aspect from sunset - it's
snowing in the high country - we heard later that there was a good deal
of rain in the high country as well. |

Kea on the New Zealand flag. Very similar to the Australian flag, but
the stars are red with white borders and the extra star in the cross is
missing. |

Oh, No, RUN, he's coming right at us! And it did too, landing on the balcony
just over our heads. Same Kea as in the previous photo. |

Suprisingly enough, a Chaffinch, which is an English bird. This one was
practically on our feet, doing a little dance which involved fluttering
his wings. Wonder if it was the "feed me" dance? |

Mount Cook from the far end of Lake Pukaki (sp?). Mount Cook isn't at
all visible today, but it's a beautiful view nonetheless. |
