The Tambo II, a concrete ship built to commemorate all the ships that
beached or crashed on the Hokitika sandbar. At one point, Hokitika was
averaging a wreck every three weeks. If the ship was not damaged, it was
winched back to sea, this was called, "making the overland journey". |
