whitby05_001.jpg 145.58 KB View of Whitby from over the Abbey wall - had to take this one by holding the camera over my head.

 |
whitby05_002.jpg 144.43 KB Whitby Abbey. There was an event called "Smugglers" on.

whitby05_007.jpg 144.51 KB Whitby Harbor. Lowest point of the tide. At high tide, the harbor's full. Compare with later pictures, as the tide comes in.

whitby05_009.jpg 150.38 KB This is the Bark Endeavor Whitby, a 40% scale version of the original Bark Endeavor. I call it the 'mini-endeavor'... We'll be on this little ship later in the day.

whitby05_010.jpg 101.19 KB The EEndracht, a very large Dutch Tall Ship, which was in town for the weekend for what was supposed to be the Tall Ship exhibit. Unfortunately, there'd been bad weather, and only 3 of the 15 were actually in Whitby, which was quite disappointing, even though I didn't know there'd be any at all...

whitby05_011.jpg 98.79 KB The Europa was pretty cool, an older looking 3-master built nearly 100 years ago.

whitby05_013.jpg 184.14 KB An interesting way to tie up your boats. Winder how the middle ones get out if they want to?

|
 |
whitby05_014.jpg 153.87 KB Juggler on the hill above Whitby. The abbey is on the opposite headland, off screen to the right. Note that there's much more water in the harbor than in the earlier photo.

whitby05_017.jpg 108.58 KB I've been practicing taking bird photos as the gulls go whizzing by. This is the first time I've managed to get something remotely useable.

whitby05_018.jpg 164.48 KB View of Whitby beach, from the pier. Bit of a gloomy day, but folks are still out on the water. Stronger than I, that water is COLD!
