Aussie spiders come mighty big
Woke up early to get ready for our camping trip. Went to grab a spare blanket from the very top cupboard, and the apparition to the right crawled out. It's a huntsman spider, harmless and useful, but a bit startling to see at 5:00am. I'd estimate this one to be about 4" across - a medium-sized specimen.
I don't squash these - one it would make a huge mess and two they're beneficial, and hunt less desirable creepies. If you're really interested this page has tons of information: http://www.amonline.net.au/factSheets/huntsman_spiders.htm.
And, it's raining. Lightly, but it's raining. But quite warm - it's the coldest part of the day and about 83f/28c.
