Geek stuff
Wow, it's been that long? I'm such a bad blogger...
Ah, well. Geek Stuff:
From the beginning, I've had little finicky USB issues with my current motherboard. Not enough to return the board, and only seemed to happen occassionally. But, I finally got around to buying new equipment. This's what I got:
ASUS M2NSLI Deluxe mobo
4GB Corsair RAM
AMD A64 X2 5600 CPU
XFX GeForce 7600GT 256M (passive cooling! Big fins but quiet)
Also, because apparently 440GB isn't enough, got a WD sATA 250GB internal drive, and for backups a WD 500GB MyBook with eSATA, so those huge backups won't take so long.
Debated for a while if I wanted to try XP 64, but after talking to people on various forums, decided it wasn't worth the hassle, so went back to Newegg and bought XP Pro. augh. May just stay with 2000 as a dual-boot option. I like 2K. Or I could just say the heck with it and load Ubuntu on the new machine.
With the XP software, also got a TV Tuner card from Happauge. Supposed to work with Linux as well, so all's good.
